2021.09.25 01:43 UppedSolution77 I feel that Vivian Volkoff is ultimately a poorly developed character.
This is isn't going to be a 10-page analysis, just a short opinion of mine that I'd like to share here. I'm still watching the show so I'd think it'd be important to note that so my opinions may change as the show progresses. I'm still watching the first episode of the 5th season.
So Vivian Volkoff is presented as a means to fulfil some kind of potential nemesis or arch-enemy type relationship dynamic with respect to Chuck in his spy career. Vivian didn't know anything about her father and what bad business he was into, dealing arms to bad people, giving terrorists the weapons they use to kill innocents and overall that he was just a really mean fucking dude. Vivian had no idea any of this was true she didn't have any idea that her father was a super-criminal and one of the world's most wanted men.
After Alexei is taken into custody, that guy is searching for the key to the secret chamber in Alexei's office. Now in the process of this entire event of the guy trying to get the key from Vivian, her life was put into danger many times. She trusted the CIA as law enforcement authorities to protect her and keep her best interests at heart to a reasonable degree. In particular, she had a genuine connection with Chuck as he was best able to relate to her as he had similar experiences with his own estranged family members and he is one of the few spies who is still in touch with their human emotions. Vivian was able to trust Chuck to protect her and do what's best for her. All of this was genuine. Chuck never lied to her. Chuck never mislead her and Chuck did not manipulate her. Chuck tried to get her to talk to her father, but his superiors refused, which wasn't his fault. He did not lie to Vivian. He didn't promise her that knowing full well it's not gonna happen. He promised her that and soon after he got Beckman to agree to it. It kinda seems to me that the whole nemesis relationship between Chuck and Vivian is based upon one huge misunderstanding, that's the literal foundation of the entire nemesis arc.
Throughout all of this and throughout all of Chuck's genuine concern and care for Vivian's wellbeing as both an asset to the CIA and more importantly as a person, somehow Vivian becomes his arch-enemy. She blames Chuck for arresting her father. Her father was one of the most wanted men on the planet and has committed countless crimes against humanity. What does she expect Chuck to do, as a CIA agent? She also says that Chuck's family always makes things worse for hers, regarding Orion's reprogramming of Hartley into Volkoff. But this again, I feel is a misunderstanding a short-sighted misunderstanding on Vivian's part. She's not seeing things clearly and her judgement is clouded, by something, probably Robin's father (the lawyer guy). That happened before Chuck was even born so it would be illogical to hold Chuck responsible for that.
Everything Chuck did for her all the care that he showed for her was real and yet somehow Vivian ends up blaming Chuck for everything that goes wrong in her life yet Chuck was always genuine to the core. It just doesn't seem like convincing acting or good writing to me. It seems like their entire nemesis relationship is based on a series of successive miscommunications. In the sense that if you literally took Vivian and Chuck and you locked them in a room for 1 hour or 2 hours, and they had nothing to do but talk to each other, I feel if this happened Vivian and Chuck would no longer be enemies at all. That's why I say it seems like the whole nemesis dynamic is based on a giant misunderstanding between the 2 of them. It doesn't seem like realistic character interaction. It gives me slight Game of Thrones season 8 vibes. I think Vivian should be a bit smarter, and not be so short-sighted.
For Vivian to actually use the Norseman on Sarah, that's crossing a line that you can never come back from, in my opinion. Vivian was raised with such good education and guidance as an adolescent she studied so vastly in many different schools and devoted her time to many cool hobbies like horse riding. She was educated well and she was kept entirely away from her father's criminal life so again, I find it a bit unrealistic as to how easily she decided to devote herself to that criminal life. She was gonna take over Volkoff Industries and pick off exactly where her father left off she was gonna continue the illegal dealings of the company which she knows are intensely evil, immoral and unethical yet she still readily does so. I cannot seem to recall the details very meticulously right now but in summary, Vivian just seems like a fake character to me. She was not brought to life or developed right and properly and her entire arc appears to be written quite poorly to me.
If Chuck should have any nemesis, it should be that Manoosh guy. Remember him? I think he got a very raw deal. They burned him as an asset which is something that Sarah fought her damndest to ensure didn't happen to Chuck yet she had no obligation to do so as she was just Chuck's handler. No personal feelings were supposed to be involved. But Chuck basically pretended to be Manoosh's friend but in this case, Chuck was not genuine. He did manipulate Manoosh (albeit to a lesser degree than a normal spy would) and he didn't save him from being forcibly pushed underground where he would never see his family again, something which Chuck has come dangerously close to before with Fulcrum so you'd think he'd understand the gravity of such a situation better than anyone else. That kind of relationship dynamic would seem to form more organically or naturally than Chuck and Vivian.
With Vivian, the whole nemesis dynamic just seems so forced. Like she would normally understand and be Chuck's friend, but she can't because she has to stick to a script. When you think that a script is what is preventing realistic and natural character interactions from taking place, in my opinion, that is indicative of somewhat poor writing.

2021.09.25 01:43 Gaudilocks Visiting in late October/Early November & Usage of English
I unexpectedly have some extra vacation time off from work and am looking to go somewhere for about a week or 10 days sometime between mid-October and mid-November. Would Copenhagen be nice at this time, or would you recommend I visit another time of year in the future?
If it makes a difference, I do not drink alcohol at all. I am not a party person. I like moreso museums, art exhibits, trying food places, and hopefully chatting with locals in some capacity.
Related, is Copenhagen (and I guess the rest of Denmark if I stay closer to two weeks and venture elsewhere) the kind of place where it is not even worth the trouble to learn phrases in the local language? I have spent time in Amsterdam and Stockholm before, and while folks were nice and so helpful with me at any time, it almost felt like I wasted their time speaking in their language with them when they speak English so well, haha. So I welcome your thoughts on if it is still appreciated to learn a bit of Danish or if you'd just as soon speak English to move things along.

I'm replacing my 27.5x2.8 Maxxis Rekon+s soon with a Schwalbe Magic Mary 27.5x2.6 on the front amd a Big Betty 27.5x2.6 on the rear. Maybe a Hans Dampf on the back depending on availability. What are peoples thoughts on this combination and Schwalbe tires in general.

2021.09.25 01:43 Hayth0 charger mechanic idea
okay so some chargers have specials like inkjet, when times up they return to their starting position vulnerable.
so imagine that you can land with a charged shot ready (this goes for super jumps too).
maybe holding down the trigger until you land is how this could work. i think this would make chargers less vulnerable. its only one shot so hitting it would be very rewarding.
